PET/CT Imaging Center of Northwest Florida is a joint venture of Pensacola Radiology Consultants and Sacred Heart Health System. Sacred Heart Hospital was the first hospital in Northwest Florida to provide an advanced imaging technology - positron emission tomography - that can diagnose cancer at an earlier stage.
Where other imaging techniques can show pictures of what an organ looks like, PET imaging allows radiologists to measure metabolism and produce a picture of how well an organ is functioning. The scan can pick up evidence of changes in cell activity caused by cancer long before the tumor can be seen by other imaging techniques.
Sacred Heart installed a state-of-the-art PET/CT scanner that combines the best features of two separate imaging technologies. This scanner utilizes LSO crystal technology, allowing for the fastest scanning capabilities in the Southeast.
PET/CT images are analyzed by board-certified physicians at Pensacola Radiology Consultants.
